The MWW Research Association offers several scholarship programmes, which aim to support young postgraduate researchers. These programmes have a particular focus on digital humanities and are aimed at providing international researchers with the opportunity to pursue research questions in relation to one or more of the collections of the three MWW institutions. These scholarships also aim to promote academic exchange with researchers from the association’s three research projects.
This programme is aimed at international students in the field of humanities who are studying for their Master’s or working on their Master’s theses. During a four-week research visit to one of the three MWW institutions, participants have the opportunity to gain an insight into the diverse areas of work in a non-university research library, archive or museum and to expand their knowledge of German literature and culture.
International Summer School
An international summer school is organised annually by the three MWW institutions bringing together around twenty doctoral students for two weeks in Marbach, Weimar or Wolfenbüttel to address a specific theme. The summer school is developed in cooperation with foreign universities.
During the summer school, participants focus intensively on the topics of the three MWW research projects, At the same time, the summer school provides insights into the work of the archives, libraries and museums in all three MWW institutions. Curators, librarians and conservators give practical introductions to the development and conservation of collections. The summer school also addresses the basic principles of academic editing and source-based research.
Please note: Due to the current pandemic situation, the international summer School ‘Collecting Spaces’ will be postponed until summer 2021. New Dates and a new invitation for Tenders will be announced soon. Further Information will be given on our website.
